Fires of pleasure

Dear spiritual one,

This week two people have asked if I was still doing NorthStar readings and I realized I haven’t offered them in ages. So I thought I'd go back to my January tradition of offering those the first couple months of the year at a discount price. They are in either written form or face-to-face on ZOOM together. The written is usually $130 but is $100 during this special. The Zoom one is usually $100 but is $75 during this special. I came across this description in an old note book of mine. It’s not something I wrote, I can tell by how I prefaced it, but I didn’t note the source. It’s an interesting description however, so I wanted to share it. This person said the following regarding their experience in a church.

"I knelt and prayed for a while, then sat back in the pew, closed my eyes, and let my mind be still and quiet."

"Contemplative prayer," St. Teresa called it, as opposed to "vocal" prayer. Wordless, imageless, just a stillness, an interior silence… I found it a strange and wonderful fact that saying and doing nothing had so much joy in it. We’re a society of doers, people who believe contemplation could be suspect, the province of the lazy and foolish, but that stillness always lit a fire of pleasure inside me, and it does so even now."

That stillness lights a fire of pleasure inside me too, whether it’s short or long. How about you?
